What do you do with your days off?

5 Sep

Some of you might be saying, “What days off?” Then you’re like me.  But, when you do have the occasional day off, I’m of the thinking that that’s when you work harder than you do for the job, and get yourself closer to wherever it is you want to be… professional photographer, writer, independent car mechanic, painter, teacher, sales expert… whatever.  On days off, when you’re not working for THEM, work like a bizarrely hungry animal for YOU.  How else will you get it, your ‘it’?  Your ‘there’?  You, we, need to be tireless, hungry, obsessed with our goals if we ever hope to touch them, live them, and more love each of our days.

I agree with your statement or idea, “…I’m of the thinking that that’s when you work harder than you do for the job, and get yourself closer to wherever it is you want to be…” One could argue that the job I currently work at does or does not relate nor benefit what I want to do professionally. I work in a retail environment. No, I don’t work as a cashier (those days are over for me). I’ve gained my experience working a customer-faced position and expanded my techniques on understanding someone else’s issue. But, retail has given me life lessons and has faced me with skills worth discovering in a retail environment such as prioritizing, communication, problem-solving, and well, speed-walking to every destination 🙂

But aside from that, no retail does not relate to my profession; developing iPhone apps. But, taking those days off, making them’ baby steps to making my day job a profession is why I too look forward to “days off.”

…video games are fun too on days off…
